Sorry for the sporadic posting, loves.  It’s been a magnificently crazy and computer-free couple of days.  Also it’s beautiful outside, so what the heck are you doing on the computer?  Go play.

  • Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
  • YES TIFFANY. YES.
  • Collard greens = a reason for living.
  • Please get in my belly.
  • Oh gosh.  New Juice.  Bye bye paycheck.  Slash solid food.  Sorry I’m not sorry.
  • My 10 millionth plea for safe sunscreen.
  • Yes KELP noodles.
  • DOG BLOG. HAPPY DAY.

And then there’s this:

You are all beautiful creatures each and every one.

Mental Health Mondays: Life is a Verb

In Body, Mind, Soul on 21 May, 2012 at 18:36

(This post is inspired by a certain yogi whose heart is as giant as he is).

So often we slip into thinking that life is something that happens TO us instead of FOR us. We slink into habits and routine, and learn to accept our circumstances and the cards we’re dealt…at the expense of forgetting that we can, in fact, play. That things happen for us to participate, learn, grow, and THRIVE.

Sure, it is so so so crucial to stay long-sighted and to accepting of the things we cannot change. But let’s not mistake acceptance and contentment with settling; there is a HUGE difference between trusting the universe and its processes and being complacent about your own life.

There’s a dance at work here. It’s between paying attention, observing, and listening to the lessons we are meant to learn without fussing or fighting WHILE remembering that you can still play. You can still trust the process without relinquishing control. In fact, relinquishing control of your life is totally the opposite of what the Universe has in mind.

You were placed in this universe to LIVE your life, not to become passive in it. You were placed here to follow your bliss, grab life by the balls, and figure out what on Earth you are here to do.

You are meant to do life.
Life is a verb.

Waiting for things to happen (while using “trust and patience” a convenient excuse to keep from getting ish done) is silly. Hoping and wishing is a waste of energy.

Life is a verb.
Make shit happen.
Go big or go home.
If you love someone, let them know.
If you want something, let it go.
Life is a verb.
You do you.
Become who you are.
Do (Sh)it Yourself.
Because you can.

Life is a verb.

You are all beautiful creatures, each and every one.

PS: Apologies for any typos on this one… I’m typing this post on my phone on the go in New York City. Because life is a verb and I just had to go.

Inside My Medicine Cabinet: Lovely Healthy Beauty Picks

In Earth, Mind, Reviews on 17 May, 2012 at 11:15

At much amusement to myself and possibly everyone else that knows me, I have received a fair amount of requests for a roundup of beauty products I recommend.  Considering I use all of maybe three actual beauty products, I resisted doing this for a while, but perhaps now’s the time.  Here are a few of my Lovely Healthy faves:

  • Korres Lip Butter:  No freakish chemicals or paragons, nothing but hydration and pretty colors. ($12)
  • Desert Essence Shampoo and Conditioner:  Gluten and animal product-free, these are all natural body products that work and smell beautifully.  And give people with allergies the peace of mind that they’re not going to have some wacky reaction to something as innocuous as shampoo. ($9)
  • Vitamin D: essential for skin and tissue health, and helps improve your mood. Everyone knows the best accessory is a smile. ($10)
  • Electrolytes: keep your body hydrated from the inside out instead of investing in bougie creams that don’t actually do anything. ($6)
  • Tom’s of Maine Toothpaste and Floss:  Keep your smile bright and beautiful by using natural, weird-ingredient-free toothpaste.  Floss every day.  No exceptions. ($3)
  • Zoya or Priti NYC Nail Polish: Two companies that pride themselves on their ingredients.  Mad props.  Prtit makes the best smelling nail polish remover of all time, and both companies have super expansive color collections. ($8-$12/per bottle)

Aaaaaaand for more info on safe cosmetic ingredients, click on over here.

And always remember, of course, you are all beautiful creatures each and every one.
