Setting an Intention for 2013: An Open Letter to My Students

Yoga4

Dear students, readers, friends, family. This is my letter to you, from my heart to yours.

Today I’m holding space for the intention I’m setting for 2013. I invite you to partake, and to share your own intentions for the upcoming year. I want to be 100% transparent and honest with all of you, because it is my responsibility to you as a teacher to live my practice, and show the results of my own self-study and dreaming.

My dears. It’s time to declare 2013 as the year of:

  • Living my practice in every moment. Teaching by example. Being the light.
  • Being truly present.
  • Being impeccable with my word.
  • Speaking my truth (which is love), always.
  • Allowing the miracle to happen.
  • Listening, listening, listening, listening, listening, listening, listening….and then speaking.
  • Whispering instead of arguing.
  • Skipping over the part where I think negative thoughts about someone and just loving them more instead.
  • Acknowledging the violence of a negative thought, and removing that violence from word & action.
  • Doing the things that scare me most.
  • Obliterating self-doubt.
  • Ayurveda + Kundalini training FTW.
  • Doing the word for my happiest, dream body.
  • Demolishing goals, and subsequently setting newer, better, scarier, crazier ones.
  • Hi, no more factory farming and commercial food subsidies, please.
  • And please, no more artificial foods in this world! I call for a world wide ban the calorie-free butter sprays and Splendas of the world!
  • Strengthening and immersing within the kula.
  • Taking Lovely Healthy to the next fucking nine hundred levels.
  • Dancing.
  • Less sitting.
  • More groovin’.
  • No.
  • More.
  • Guns.
  • More supporting and less complaining.
  • More handstands and less fear of falling.
  • More guru-is-the-self and less yoga fads, trends, and celebrities.
  • More breathing, less contracting.
  • More space, more strength.
  • GRATITUDE.
  • Finding the positive way to say anything.
  • Clearing the energy.
  • Forgiving relentlessly. Even yourself. Especially yourself.
  • Dharma, dharma, dharma.
  • Sadhna, sadhna, sadhna
  • No guts, no glory.

and most of all..

SERVING YOU.

I was put here on this planet to serve, to teach, to heal, to inspire. It’s as simple as that.

Tell me how I may serve you.

Nothing makes me happier than doing that for the next 12 months…and for the rest of my life.

What intentions are you setting for 2013??

{ all the love }

  1. My intention for 2013: forgiveness. A brief word, but a mondo act. I will forgive myself for past “mistakes” — thus making space for better choices. Compassion, compassion, compassion: the foundation for forgiveness, for love, for healing, for my Best Life.

Love you and your list, Sweet G.

    • Love you right back, LFM. And love your intention. Seriously bringing me to (happy) tears.

  2. My intention is to humanize people… let their realities, fears, heartbreaks, and hopes be as real as mine. To never ever view them as objects or means to an end. Also to fully let grace in, learning that God’s way is through grace and not rigid laws. My newest intention is to stop using cynicism and negativity as humor- it never is.

  3. My intention is something I really need to put my effort into which is to not worry about and perseverate or worry about things I cannot change. Let be what is, and remember my own path and concentrate on that. Always be thankful of the love and life that is right in front of me and put all my good energy into it so thanks g xo
